A Prayer for Japan

After the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami that happened in Japan in March, relief efforts and fundraisers were held throughout the islands. My ashtanga teacher, Yoko Fujiwara, of Open Space Yoga and teacher Laura Dunn put together the yoga event and benefit concert A Prayer for Japan. Yoga students performed 108 sun salutations to the beat of Taiko artist Kenny Endo at a little church on the edge of Diamond Head. Then a beautiful concert by ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro and Kenny Endo Taiko ensemble. It was a lovely event and I was so happy to be a part of it.
