Earthlings

Mark Twain once said, "Of all the creatures ever made, man is the most detestable."

Tears have been pouring out my eyes for the past hour as I watched Earthlings, by far the most horrific documentary I have ever seen. I have been a vegetarian for three years and I never again will take participate in the animal industry.

I cannot comprehend how humans can treat other beings with such disrespect. I cannot accept that the people in these films are human, that I am the same species as them.

I am ashamed. We truly are an evil species.

Most humans try not to know the truth, to pretend what they are eating or wearing is not created purely by the pain and suffering of another creature. This is going on every second of the day, constantly. This is pure malicious cruelty- we do not think of how these animals feel, we only think of our own pleasures. Pleasures that come from their pain. Words truly cannot describe how torturous and cruel we are to the animals at slaughterhouses- it is worse than Nazi Germany- and it is happening now- right now. How can we ever consider the word "humane" to be true when this is how humankind treats another species. We are so thoughtless.

We are all animals of this planet. We are all connected. We need so badly to be kind to one another, to treat all life with respect and compassion, for otherwise we are doomed. Leo Tolstoy once said, "As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields." I could not agree more. Please do yourself a favor, do the world a favor and watch this film. Educate yourself. Read Diet for a New America. Do something.
