I'll follow you into the dark

The end is near...
I wandered with friends towards the burnt skies of the Gap Fire in Goleta, California a couple of weeks ago. A fiery snow fell upon us and burnt twigs blew in the wind. Birds cried out in panic to find their loved ones and migrate away. The sky quickly turned dark and the sun glowed a deep blood red, it smelled of nostalgic campfires. It seemed like a scene from an apocalyptic film, children running around with fire masks covering their breath and policemen patrolling the streets in full goggles and gas masks. We should have turned around as we neared the flaming hills, but we had to get closer. We wandered through an abandoned vineyard as flames poured down mountaintops and an eerie silence filled the air. It was the calm before the storm, we had to evacuate...

I love this...these pictures illuminate the fact that surrealism in the world is in fact reality.
